Five stars on Google, 64 times over
Every one of those reviews was left by somebody in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire or the Cambridge area who had Jamie out to their house. Not a single one of them was written by us.
Read enough of them and the same words keep coming back. On time. Tidy. Efficient. Plenty of them are from people using him for the second or third time.
What Jamie does
Emergencies that cannot wait until morning, jobs booked in for next week and the small repairs everybody puts off. If it carries water, it is covered.
Emergency call outs
Out of hours attendance when water is escaping and it will not wait. See the emergency plumber page.
Burst pipes and leaks
Split copper, failed joints and the leaks that only show up as a stain on a ceiling. See burst pipe repair.
Bathrooms
Full renovations and straight suite swaps, scoped and priced up front. See bathroom installation and renovation.
Toilets
Running cisterns, weak flushes and new units fitted. See toilet repairs and installation.
Hot water cylinders
Installed and serviced under Jamie's G3 qualification. See unvented cylinder installation.
Blocked drains
Sinks, showers, toilets and outside gullies cleared at the cause. See blocked drain clearance.
Radiators and towel rails
Swapped, added or moved, with the output checked before you order. See radiator installation and replacement.
Taps
Drips, weeping handles, mixer cartridges and outside taps. See leaking tap repairs.
Everything else
Stopcocks, service valves, appliance connections and the jobs with no name. See general plumbing services.
G3 qualified for unvented hot water
An unvented cylinder stores water at mains pressure, so Part G of the Building Regulations only lets someone holding a recognised G3 qualification install, commission or service one over 15 litres. Jamie holds it, which is why cylinder work does not have to be handed to somebody else.
It is not a ticket every general plumber carries. If the hot water in your house comes from a sealed cylinder, it matters who touches it.
One plumber, not a call centre
Search for a plumber and most of what comes back is a booking service. You give your details to an operator and you have no idea who is going to knock on the door. Jamie works the other way round.

1
You speak to Jamie directly
Describe what the problem is doing and you get a straight answer on what it probably is and what it takes to sort. No call handler taking a message and passing it on.
-
2
The price is agreed before work starts
You are told what the job will cost before anything is taken apart. If something unexpected turns up once it is open, you get shown it and told the options rather than finding it on the invoice.

Local, so he can come back
Jamie is based in Shefford. A plumber who lives locally and who is going to see you in the shop next month has every reason to do the job properly the first time.

The place is left clean
Plumbing is messy work. It does not have to leave your house that way. Tidy is the word that comes up most often across the reviews.
What customers say
Real reviews left on Google, transcribed word for word. Nothing here was written by us.
Jamie very much is the happy plumber! But he is also really professional, gave honest advice and I found him to be incredibly trustworthy. He did a fantastic job and I'd recommend him to anyone.

There are plenty more
The full set sits on the reviews page, along with what people keep saying about the work.
Water going somewhere it should not?
Turn it off at the stopcock and ring. Jamie will talk you through what to do while he is on his way. Anything less urgent can wait for a booked visit.
Where Jamie works
Shefford is home, so mid Bedfordshire is where he is most days and where he can usually get to quickest. Bedford, Kempston, Clapham, Biggleswade, Sandy, Ampthill, Flitwick and the villages in between are all a short run.
The patch reaches well past the county line. Hitchin, Letchworth, Stevenage and Royston in Hertfordshire. Milton Keynes and Leighton Buzzard towards Buckinghamshire. Out along the A428 into the Cambridge area. You can check your own town on the areas we cover page, which lists every town and village Jamie travels to.

Give him your town or postcode and you get a straight yes or no rather than a maybe.
Common questions
Are you a plumber in Shefford?
Yes. Jamie the Happy Plumber is based on Harrow Way in Shefford, Bedfordshire. He works out from there across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire and the Cambridge area.
Do you take emergency call outs?
Yes, including out of hours. Turn the water off at the internal stopcock first, then ring rather than sending a message, because a message might not be seen for a while and water damage spreads quickly.
Who will turn up to the job?
Jamie will. The plumber who takes your call is the plumber who does the work, so nothing gets lost between the quote and the job and you always know who is in your house.
Will I know the price before you start?
Yes. The work is priced and agreed with you before anything begins and nothing is added afterwards. That applies to a washer as much as a full bathroom.
Are you qualified for unvented hot water cylinders?
Yes. Jamie holds the G3 unvented hot water qualification, which is legally required to install, commission and service sealed cylinders over 15 litres.
Is any job too small?
No. Small jobs are usually the ones people put off until they turn into something bigger and more expensive. Describe what you need and you will be told what it involves.
